The dual seat is a prominent part of the restored motorcycle, and the seat cover should be finished in the correct pattern and color. This black-top seat is correct for the 1970-1974 Triumph 500 and 1970 650 twins. Can also be fitted to 1968-1969 models using the same hinge arrangement although the seat cover pattern is not correct for the earlier models.
Manufactured in the UK to original specifications, this black-top dual seat features a basketweave top pattern with a silver trim strip around the bottom of the cover. This is a restoration quality seat and is finished with the gold Triumph logo on the back of the cover.
The dual seat is attached to the rear frame with hinges that are located on hooked mounting tabs, allowing the seat to be lifted without removal. A stay on the seat pan secures the seat in the down position by engaging with a spring-loaded plunger on the right side of the rear frame. A seat check wire prevents the seat from fouling the side panel when fully opened.
Hinges are bolted to the bosses on the underside of the seat pan. It is recommended that the front hinge is loosely fitted first to the seat pan, then the rear hinge captured on the hooked mounting tab can be bolted to the seat pan. Once the correct alignment is established, the hinge bolts can be fully tightened, securing the seat to the rear frame section.
