Final Drive Chain

Although positioned as an economy replacement final drive chain, the Japanese-made KCM brand 530 chain delivers excellent durability and value. Is an outstanding choice when a budget is established and adhered to without compromising quality. The non-O ring 530 final drive chain is compatible with many American, British, and Metric motorcycles from the 1950s through the 1980s.
The KCM chain with 5/8 x 3/8 chain is supplied in a 110 link condition, making it ideal for use on motorcycles originally fitted with even-length chains. Can be shortened to fit applications calling for 102, 104, 106, and 108 links with the provided connecting link. For non-O ring applications.
The final drive chain delivers the power from the engine and transmission to the rear drive sprocket. The condition of the chain and sprockets should be monitored frequently to prevent failure while in service. Frequent cleaning and proper lubrication will prolong the life of the chain and sprockets.
The old chain can be disconnected at the joining link and connected to the replacement chain to pull it through the tunnel behind the primary chaincase, riding on the countershaft sprocket. Once the replacement chain emerges, the connecting link can be removed, and the old chain is discarded. The new replacement chain can then be connected after wrapping the remainder over the rear sprocket, with the chain adjusters and spindle nuts loose. Final adjustment of the chain tension is made in accordance with the factory workshop manual.

The 78 link endless two-row “Duplex” primary drive chain is manufactured in Japan to the highest standards for optimal fit and durability in the Triumph 3TA, 5TA, T90, and T100 unit-construction models.
The primary drive chain connects the engine sprocket to the clutch chainwheel sprocket. A chain tensioner pad is adjusted to maintain the correct tension of the primary chain between the two sprockets.
The primary chaincase cover is removed to gain access to the primary drive system. Generally, the stator and clutch chainwheel must be removed to install the primary drive chain. The factory workshop manual instructions should be followed to ensure the job is performed correctly.
