A Long History in Spark-Plug Manufacturing

Champion traces its spark-plug heritage to 1907, giving the brand more than a century of experience in engine ignition components. Today, its range includes spark plugs and filtration products for numerous engine applications. For classic British motorcycle owners, our Champion collection brings together familiar plug designations and selected replacement service parts in one place.

Champion Spark Plugs for Triumph, Norton & BSA

Our selection includes Champion N2C, N3C, N4C, N5C, N6YC, and N9YC spark plugs, with individual listings identifying the intended motorcycle applications. The collection includes Triumph and BSA listings for the N2C, N3C, and N4C; a Triumph listing for the N5C; and selected Triumph, Norton, and BSA applications for the N6YC and N9YC.

These plug numbers are not interchangeable recommendations. Choose the plug specified for your motorcycle and engine configuration rather than selecting solely by brand or appearance. Champion recommends using the manufacturer-specified plug and heat range as the starting point for standard applications.championautoparts+1

Understanding Spark-Plug Heat Range

A spark plug’s heat range describes how readily it transfers heat away from its firing end—not how powerful its spark is. A colder plug dissipates heat more readily, while a hotter plug retains more heat at the firing end. The correct selection helps the plug operate hot enough to resist fouling without becoming excessively hot.championautoparts+1

Within a given Champion plug family, a higher number indicates a hotter heat range. That numbering should not be applied directly to another brand: NGK’s heat-range numbers run in the opposite direction. Use a documented application or cross-reference instead of matching numbers between brands.

Our listings identify the Champion N6YC as an NGK BP8ES equivalent and the N9YC as an NGK BP6ES equivalent. These references can help identify a replacement, but you should still confirm the required application and specifications before ordering.

Plug Design Matters Alongside Heat Range

Champion’s part numbers also identify construction features. The “Y” in a designation such as N6YC or N9YC indicates a projected firing-end design. This is a separate specification from heat range, so plugs with different letter suffixes should not be treated as equivalent simply because their numbers are similar.

When choosing a plug, confirm the specified thread size, reach, seat type, firing-end design, and heat range. For an engine that has been modified, use the engine builder’s requirements rather than assuming the original factory recommendation still applies.

Champion Spark-Plug Caps

Our Champion collection also includes replacement spark-plug caps, including listings under WC548/WC200 and WCX600/WCX180 references. Check the individual product details for fitment and electrical characteristics when replacing a cap or servicing an existing ignition setup.thebonnevilleshop

Use the specifications in the listing rather than choosing a cap by appearance alone.

Champion Oil Filters & Filter-Mount Packages

Champion products in this collection extend beyond ignition parts. We carry a Champion spin-on oil filter listed under 06-3371 C/H101, along with a Norton Commando-type filter-mount package supplied with a Champion filter. The listings also identify Triumph and BSA applications.

Check the product details against the filter housing or conversion fitted to your motorcycle. A filter listing with Triumph, Norton, and BSA references does not mean it fits every model from those manufacturers.
