This throttle cable assembly is appropriate for the original UK-specification Triumph T140 models, or US-Specification models that have been fitted with low-rise handlebars and use a single-pull throttle twist-grip.
The cable assembly includes an upper cable, junction block, and individual lower cables, for use on Amal 930 Concentric carburetors. May also be used in other applications, such as Triumph T120R and BSA A65L oil-in-frame models with low-rise handlebars, single-pull throttles and Amal 930 Concentric carburetors. Overall inner wire length is 42-3/4″. Upper cable sheath measures 20-7/8″, with an inner wire length of 23-5/8″. The lower cable sheaths measure 15-7/8″, and the inner wires measure 18-1/2″. When assembled, the resulting free length of the inner wires is approximately 3-3/8″. Sourced from LF Harris in the UK.
The cable is pulled by the motion of the twist grip, allowing it to raise and lower the throttle slides in the carburetors. Fine adjustments to cable lash are made by the inline barrel adjusters on the cables. Top hat ferrules are fitted to the ends of the lower cables for direct fitment to the drilled carburetor top caps.
The petrol tank must be removed first. The carburetor top caps are then removed to thread the lower cables through the top caps. The return springs are installed over the cables, then the cable are captured in the throttle slides. The needles and clips are dropped in the slide bottom, with the return springs compressed so they are out of the way. The twist-grip body must be separated to access the rotor, which pulls the end of the upper cable. It is easiest to fit the upper cable to the twist-grip rotor first, before attempting fitment of the lower cables to the carburetors.
LF Harris motorcycle spares are produced to the highest quality standards possible utilizing original Triumph tooling, dies, factory blueprints & materials combined with modern manufacturing equipment, tolerances & techniques.
