Properly sized throttle cables are essential for safe and correct adjustments to the throttle and carburetor. This throttle cable assembly is suitable for the 1976-1978 US-specification T140V modes with high handlebars, twin Amal 930 Concentric carburetors and Amal 364 single-pull throttle. This listing is for (1) complete throttle cable assembly, including the junction block.
The cable assembly includes an upper cable, junction block, and individual lower cables, for use on Amal 930 Concentric carburetors. May also be used in other applications, such as Triumph T120R and BSA A65L oil-in-frame models with Western bend handlebars, single-pull throttles and Amal 930 Concentric carburetors. Overall inner wire length is 46-1/4″. Upper cable sheath, junction block, and lower cable sheaths combined measure approximately 42-3/4″. When assembled, the resulting free length of the inner wires is 3-3/8″.
The upper cable is pulled by the motion of the twist grip, allowing it to raise and lower the sliding fitting in the junction block. The lower cables are also fitted to the internal sliding fitting of the junction block and raise and lower the carburetor slides. Fine adjustments to cable lash are made by the inline barrel adjusters on the upper and lower cables. The lower cables feature shouldered “top-hat” ferrules for direct fitment into the drilled carburetor top caps, as was the specification for Triumph twin models with Amal Concentric carburetors.
The cable assembly must be partially disassembled for installation to the throttle twist-grip. The twist-grip end is fitted to the rotor in the throttle assembly. The junction block must be opened to allow the upper cable to be positioned in the internal sliding fitting, while the lower cables are fitted to the lower end of the sliding fitting. The junction block is then screwed back together with all (3) cables forming an assembly.
