The choke air slide is an essential part of the choke system on Amal Concentric carburetors as it provides a rich mixture for cold starts by partially restricting airflow through the carburetor inlet tract. This air slide is suitable for fitment to the Amal Concentric 900 series carburetors, including the 928, 930, and 932 carburetors.

The slide is housed in a channel of the throttle valve and is cable-operated by a hand lever. When cable tension is released, the slide drops in the carburetor’s mixing chamber, effectively blocking the inlet of air. Once the engine has run long enough to approach operating temperatures, the lever is adjusted to pull the air slide up and out of the way of the inlet tract, restoring the optimal air/fuel mixture for normal running.
The carburetor top cap must be removed to install the choke components in the throttle valve. A lever, cable, sleeve, and spring comprise the choke assembly and are assembled together and fitted into the throttle valve. The choke system is also useful for carburetor tuning in instances where adjusting the mixture via the choke while running the motorcycle can verify a suspected overly lean or rich fuel mixture.
