While the majority of pre-unit and early unit-construction Triumph twins through 1966 were equipped with steering damper assemblies, they are often removed and this domed split sleeve nut replaces the original open-top nut. Not suitable for fitment to the 1967-later models with 28 TPI UNF threaded steering stems.
Sourced from the UK, the chrome-plated replacement steering stem sleeve nut offers an enhanced visual appearance for the earlier forks with 26 TPI steering stems.
Once the original steering damper parts are removed, the domed sleeve nut replaces the original open top nut and finishes off the assembly with an attractive original-looking chrome finish.
The steering stem nut fits into the central bore of the top fork yoke and is threaded onto the steer tube of the lower fork yoke. The split sleeve nut can be loosened or tightened to adjust pre-load of the steering head bearings. It is advisable to check the threads on the steering stem with a thread gauge to determine compatibility.
