A domed blind-type steering stem sleeve nut was fitted to the Triumph TR6R and T120R models without the steering damper system from 1968-1970. The late T100R models from 1968-1974 also used the same nut. May be also be suitable fitment to 1967 models with 28 TPI UNF steering stem.
This steering stem nut is machined with 28 TPI UNF threads and is finished in bright chrome plating. Approximate ID is 1″. Made in the UK.
The nut is split to allow for a very light interference fit within the fork top yoke. When threaded onto the steer stem and tightened, it pulls the lower and top fork yokes together to set the adjustment of the fork bearings.
Once the pre-load adjustment on the steering head bearings is achieved, the adjustment is secured by tightening the top yoke pinch bolt to hold the sleeve nut in place. A light smear of grease on the outer body of the nut will assist in rotation of the nut within the top fork yoke.Â
Note:*** Some 1967-68 Triumph 500 & 650 twins we’ve seen were fitted with later forks having 28TPI steering stem threads. We suggest measuring your steering stem with a thread pitch gauge prior to purchase.
