This new production Lucas MOSFET charging module replaces the original zener diode and selenium rectifier in the alternator-equipped models from 1963-1982. Compatible with both single-phase or three-phase charging systems. MOSFET refers to the “metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor”. This design allows for cooler running of both the stator and module, and increased flexibility in mounting locations on the motorcycle.
The genuine Lucas 12 volt universal charging module is suitable for use with Lucas-type 10A and 16A single-phase stators, as well as the 14.5A RM24 three-phase stators with a maximum output of 25A. The compact size and quick-detachable connector offers versatility in mounting the module to the motorcycle.
The MOSFET regulator/rectifier converts alternating current to direct current for the battery, and provides accurate voltage regulation with a maximum charge rate of 14.5 volts.
The module can be fitted nearly anywhere on the motorcycle, as it does not require direct airflow, unlike most conventional diode regulators. The wiring instructions are included and the module can be fitted under the seat, behind a side cover, or in some other convenient location on the chassis. Two slotted mounting holes are incorporated into the housing of the module for hard-mounting onto a platform.
