This forged alloy throttle slide features a hard anodized finish, allowing for less friction within the mixing chamber and increased wear resistance compared to the original pot-metal throttle valve. This throttle slide is suitable for use in the 600 series Amal Concentric carburetors where a #3 cutaway is called for. This listing is for (1) throttle slide.
The genuine Amal hard anodized throttle slide is precision manufactured in the UK and is original equipment in the first-generation Amal Premier 626 carburetors. This slide features the 3.0 cutaway size and is most commonly specified for the dual-carburetor Triumph T100R models.
The slide is not only used for fine tuning low throttle positions, but also houses the jet needle, lifting it out of the needle jet when the throttle is opened. The lower the number of the cutaway indicates a smaller cutaway and will give a richer fuel charge at the off-idle throttle position, up to approximately 1/4 throttle, when the needle position within the needle jet has a greater influence on the fuel mixture as the engine speed increases.
The top cap of the carburetor must be removed to allow access to the slide. The return spring must be compressed to allow the needle and throttle cable to be removed. Once the slide has been refitted, the carburetor will likely require minor adjustment to optimize performance.
