Some BSA A50 and A65 competition twin-cylinder models were specified without lighting, depending on the intended market. These models were fitted with chrome fork tube covers, or “fork sleeves”. This listing is for a matching pair of reproduction 1967 model fork sleeves but may suit earlier models from 1967-1966.
Finished in chrome-plating, the stamped steel headlamp brackets feature heavy-duty construction and are rolled at the base to locate fork gaiters. Made in the UK by TJ Wassell.
The fork sleeves are mounted to the front fork assembly between the lower and upper fork yokes, effectively covering the fork stanchion tubes.
The fork sleeves are mounted over the fork stanchion tubes and secured at the lower fork yoke with pinch bolts. The fork stanchion tubes must be lowered from the upper fork yoke sufficiently to capture each sleeve, then pulled back into place into the upper yoke, usually requiring a fork tube puller tool. Refer to the factory workshop manual for more details on fork service.
