Triumph TR6R T120R Exhaust Pipe Set 1972 PN# 71-2636 71-2637

1972 saw the introduction of the “push-in” style of exhaust pipes for the Triumph twin-cylinder models. This set of exhaust headers are suitable fitment for the 1972 650cc models only and are not compatible with cylinder heads that are fitted with exhaust adaptor spigots.

This set of exhaust pipes are manufactured in the UK to restoration-quality standards by TJ Wassell. The headers measure 1-3/8″ OD, with a flare to 1-1/2″ OD at the terminus where they meet the silencers. Designed for use with the crossover balance tube.

As 1972 was the only year with the 650 engine in the oil-in-frame and a cylinder head ported for push-in pipes, these exhaust pipes are not suitable for fitment to earlier Triumph 650 models.

Each exhaust pipe is fitted directly into the exhaust port and finished with a finned clip. A crossover tube is fitted to the stubs on each pipe, providing a stable mounting feature. When fitting the mounting brackets and silencers, it is advisable to leave all of the fasteners slightly loose to allow for alignment adjustments prior to tightening the fasteners and clamps.

Individually hand-crafted pipes that may contain markings from manufacturing and are finished to suit a daily rider (not show chrome). There may be residual polish from the factory but can be easily buffed to a nice finish.

Please note: Due to varying bans on the use of hexavalent chrome in the chroming process, this item will have varying appearance different than OEM standards. Chromers are frequently using trivalent in their processes. “It’s just not the same color. Hexavalent has that clear blue sheen, but trivalent is more grayish and smoky. Trivalent will not replace the look of hexavalent.”
