The screwed peg is an important part of the oil tank mounting system, as it is captured in a spigot rubber bushing, pressed into the eyelet mounts on the oil tank.
The screwed peg is a special screw that is partially threaded to accept a 1/4-26 CEI nut on one end and is slotted to allow a screwdriver blade to hold it from turning while tightening it to the oil tank eyelet mount.
The screwed peg expands the spigot rubber slightly when tightened and essentially rubber mounts the oil tank. The oil tank eyelet mounts have mounting tabs for the battery carrier cross straps and integrate the oil tank and battery carrier into a rubber mounted system.
The oil tank must be first mounted with the screwed peg and spigot rubber, then the battery carrier straps are fitted to comprise the assembly.Â
