The fuse holder houses the fuse, which protects the electrical system from short circuits and electrical surges that can lead to melted wires and damage to electronic modules.
Patterned after the factory original Lucas fuse holder, this UK-made fuse holder is designed to be spliced into the wiring harness and fitted with a ring terminal for attachment to the battery terminal. This original canister-type fuse holder includes 16 gauge wire leads in the original brown/blue colors and is complete with a 17A continuous/35A surge fuse.
The fuse holder is comprised of two interlocking halves that house the glass fuse. If a short circuit surge occurs, the fuse will blow and interrupt the circuit, preventing serious damage to the wiring harness.
One of the leads must be spliced into the brown/blue wire from the wiring harness, while the other lead is usually fitted with a ring terminal to attach to the battery. In the case of a positive earth polarity system, the ring terminal is then connected to the negative terminal on the battery.
