The updated design of the Lucas 8CA contact breaker points first appeared for the 1973 model year. Originally fitted to the BSA B50MX, Norton Commando, and Triumph 750 models from 1973-1978. This listing is for (1) set of contact points.

The Lucas 8CA contact points were updated from the previous 6CA points, along with the points plate to ease adjustment of each individual breaker. The previous points were fitted with eccentric pins, but the new design was changed to eliminate the troublesome pins, and a notch cut into the contact breaker support plate allowed fine adjustments to be made with the blade of a screwdriver.
The points chest cover must be removed to access the contact points. Once removed, the points are refitted to the points plate. The gap must be set and the static timing set at full advance for each contact breaker. Refer to the workshop manual for this detailed procedure.Â
