The late pre-unit Triumph 650 models with the duplex frames used a specific set of silencers that were “handed”. These silencesr are the left-hand and right-hand units with attached stays for correct fitment.
This Asian-made silencer set is intended for direct fitment to the 1960-1962 Triumph 650 models with 1-3/4″ OD low exhaust pipes.
The silencer is mounted to the exhaust pipe with a securing clamp, and mounted to the chassis with an integrated tab, welded onto the silencer. The pillion footrest serves as the mounting hardware to the rear frame loop.
The components of the exhaust system are all fitted together loosely, allowing adjustments to be made. Once the system is fitted together and aligned correctly, the fasteners are tightened to secure the adjusted exhaust system.
Please note: Due to varying bans on the use of hexavalent chrome in the chroming process, this item will have varying appearance different than OEM standards. Chromers are frequently using trivalent in their processes. “It’s just not the same color. Hexavalent has that clear blue sheen, but trivalent is more grayish and smoky. Trivalent will not replace the look of hexavalent.”
