This bolt was used in both of the handlebar mounting systems from the mid-1960s onward, starting with the 1967 T100C, TR6C, and T120TT competition models. Also used as as a pinch-bolt for the “P-clamp” or eyebolt, as fitted to the 500, 650, and 750 models from 1970 through 1982. Not suitable for use on BSA A65 models with rigid-mounted handlebars. Check your parts catalog to confirm fitment.
The handlebar mounting bolt is 5/16″-24 TPI UNF x 1-1/8″ and features a domed head and corrosion-resistant zinc plating. Made in the UK.
When fitted to the 500 and 650 forks with rigid handlebar cradles and clamps, a total of (4) bolts are used. The 650, 750, and some 500 models with eyebolts use a single bolt for each P-clamp, for a total of (2).
The bolts are threaded into the tapped hole through each handlebar eyebolt, or alternatively through each handlebar mounting clamp into the cradle on the upper fork yoke on the 1967-onward Triumph 500 and 650 competition models with rigid handlebar mounts. A light smear of anti-seize compound on the threads is suggested when installing the bolts.
