Properly sized throttle cables are essential for safe and correct adjustments to the throttle and carburetor. This throttle cable is suitable for the US-specification Triumph 650 and 750 models with twin Amal 930 Concentric carburetors, dual twist-grip throttle, and Western-bend handlebars.Â
This premium quality cable from Barnett features a long inline adjuster, correct top hat ferrule at the carburetor end, and a friction-reducing nylon sheath lining for easy operation and longevity. Overall length is approximately 46-1/2″, sheath length is 42-5/8″, with an inner wire free length of 3-3/8″. Made in the US.
The cable is pulled by the motion of the twist grip, allowing it to raise and lower the throttle slide in the carburetor. Fine adjustments to cable lash are made by the inline barrel adjuster on the cable. As this cable is meant for fitment to a dual-pull throttle on the twin-carburetor Bonneville models, (2) throttle cables are required.
The carburetor top cap must be removed to thread the cable through the top cap. The return spring is installed over the cable, then the cable is captured in the throttle slide. The needle and clip are dropped in the slide bottom, with the return spring compressed so it is out of the way. The twist grip body must be separated to access the rotor, which pulls the end of the cable.
