Heat shields were used to protect the rider’s leg on the mid-1960s Triumph high-level exhaust pipes as specified for the competition models, although the shields can be fitted to other applications using 1-3/8″ OD header pipes.
The stamped steel shield is finished in chrome plating and is supplied with (2) 1-3/8″ ID retaining clips complete with hardware. Made in the UK by TJ Wassell.
When correctly fitted, the heat shield stands off of the exhaust pipe enough to allow heat dissipation from the resulting air gap between the shield and the pipe.
The shield can be adjusted to optimize the positioning over the exhaust pipe by sliding along the exhaust pipe while loosely fastened to the pipe. Once the shield is in the desired location, the hardware is tightened to secure the heat shield.
Please note: Due to varying bans on the use of hexavalent chrome in the chroming process, this item will have varying appearance different than OEM standards. Chromers are frequently using trivalent in their processes. “It’s just not the same color. Hexavalent has that clear blue sheen, but trivalent is more grayish and smoky. Trivalent will not replace the look of hexavalent.”
