After engine #141783, Norton upgraded the Commando center stand to a stronger unit that offered full-length support stays and gearbox cradle mounting points, an improvement over the earlier frame mounted center stand. There was also a revision to the hardware, which omitted the earlier spacers. This kit contains the center stand as well as the necessary hardware to fit the stand to either the late 750 or 850 models.
Built to the later upgraded specification, this center stand kit is supplied with the bolts, both plain and collared bushes, and nuts, making it compatible with either the 750 or 850 models after engine #141783. Made in the UK by TJ Wassell.
The center stand is useful for parking the motorcycle in an upright position over extended periods of time, as well as during servicing the drivetrain when rotating or removing the rear wheel is necessary. A stiff return spring is fitted to keep the stand retracted when not in use.
Given the relatively universal fitment of this main stand and associated mounting hardware, it is essential to consult both the factory parts catalog and workshop manuals to confirm compatibility and installation procedures.
