Introduced on the 1963 BSA C15S competition model, the “shorty megaphone” style of silencer was also used on the B44VE and B44GP models through 1967 featuring a high-level 1-3/8″ exhaust pipe. May also suit later B25 and B44 models but is not a direct fit and will likely require an alternative mounting bracket to fit.
This reproduction high-level muffler is chrome plated and features an integrated exhaust pipe clamp and mounting boss. Overall length is approximately 12-1/2″, with an internal diameter of 1-3/8″. Made in the UK by TJ Wassell.
The silencer is mounted to the exhaust pipe with an integrated clamp and features a welded-on boss to accept a mounting bolt. The straight-through design incorporates a perforated baffle to assist in muting the exhaust note.
The installation of the silencer is straightforward, but it may be helpful to loosen the mounting hardware that secures the exhaust pipe stay to the front engine mounting bolt. Once the muffler is fitted, the hardware can be tightened to complete the installation. Some bracket fabrication may be necessary when fitting to various models.
