BSA twin-cylinder motorcycles were fitted with various styles of front mudguards from the early to mid-1960s, depending on the models and intended market. This set of (4) fender stays is intended for fitment to the chrome 6-tab sports fender types, as fitted to late A10 RGS and Spitfire Scramblers, as well as some A50 and A65 models through 1967.
Finished in chrome, the straight tubular stays have pressed ends at the fixing points and measure approximately 11-7/8″ on centers between the drillings. There are (2) stays for each side of the fender. Made in the UK by TJ Wassell.
The fender stays support the front mudguard and provide rigidity for the fork under swift cornering and hard braking. The correct dimensions are critical to fitment and safe operation of the motorcycle.
The stays are bolted to the mounting tabs on side of the fender, then secured to the mounting tabs on the bottom of each lower fork slider. It is advisable to loosely assemble the fender stays, then gradually tighten them up with the front wheel installed to allow for slight adjustments in alignment of the fitted fender.
