BSA fitted this type of steering stem top cap nut to many common models of telescopic forks from the post-war era through 1968, including single-cylinder and twin-cylinder models such as M20, B32, B34, A7, A10, A50, and A65.
Finished in chrome, this top cap nut has a hole for the steering damper rod to pass through. Approximately 1-5/16″ ID with 26 TPI CEI threads. Made in the UK by TJ Wassell.
The chrome top cap is threaded to the castellated top of the adjustable sleeve nut on the steering stem to finish the assembly. The steering damper rod passes through the hole on top of the cap nut.
The steering damper, if fitted, must be removed to allow access to the top cap nut. A spanner or socket is used to turn the hex on top of the nut to loosen or tighten the top cap. Refer to the factory workshop manual for service details.Â
