Time for some engine work – check the sludge trap and crank: Stacy is working to remove the sludge trap plug on our crank so we can change out the sludge trap tube on our 1968 Triumph T120R. Spoiler: It doesn’t come out easy.
If you’re restoring your vintage British motorcycle or if it’s been sitting for a while since it last ran, you’ll want to check your sludge trap tube to see if needs to be replaced. Also referred to as a sump tube or oil tube, overlooking this step can cause you to burn your engine.
