Properly sized throttle cables are essential for safe and correct adjustments to the throttle and carburetor. This cable is suitable for the single-carburetor 1978 US-specification Triumph TR7RV model equipped with high handlebar and Amal Concentric 930 carburetor.
This genuine UK-made Doherty throttle cable features an inline adjuster and lined cable housing. Overall length is approximately 46-1/4″, with a sheath length of 43″, and an inner wire free length of 3-1/4″.
The cable is pulled by the motion of the twist grip, allowing it to raise and lower the throttle slide in the carburetor. Fine adjustments to cable lash are made by the inline barrel adjuster on the cable. A shouldered “top hat” ferrule is fitted to the end of the cable sheath for direct fitment to the drilled carburetor top cap.
The carburetor top cap must be removed to thread the cable through the top cap. The return spring is installed over the cable, then the cable is captured in the throttle slide. The needle and clip are fitted to the slide, with the return spring compressed so it is out of the way. The twist grip body must be separated to access the rotor, which pulls the end of the cable.
