This custom CNC-machined sump plate kit features a magnetic drain plug, which allows oil draining without having to remove the sump plate and obviates the need for exhaust pipe removal on the T160 models. Supplied with a fiber sealing washer for the drain plug.
Manufactured from billet aluminum in the US, this sump plate replaces the original non-drilled plate on the three-cylinder models from BSA and Triumph. The elevated boss on the plate is drilled to accept the 3/8″-24 TPI UNF drain plug. The brass drain plug features a magnetic insert to prevent steel swarf from returning to the oil pump during the oil scavenging process.
The dual oil filtration system on the BSA and Triumph triples features a screen sump filter, housed in the sump plate, as well as a cylindrical “full-flow” cartridge filter located in the crankcase.
The sump plate assembly is installed on the bottom of the crankcase, with (6) studs and nuts securing the plate, screen filter, and gaskets. The exhaust system on the T160 models must be loosened and partially removed to access the location of the sump plate. Refer to the factory workshop manual for more details on the oil-changing process for the BSA and Triumph triples.
