This tool is designed to install and remove the wrist pins from pistons without risking damage to the pistons, pins, and connecting rod bearings, making it an indispensible tool in every mechanic’s tool cabinet.
The assembly includes a flexible steel strap which is adjustable for use on pistons sized from 45mm up to 125mm. Four interchangeable heads are included to fit wrist pin diameters from 13mm through 25mm.
The strap wraps around the piston once the threaded anvil is adjusted to the correct size and the appropriately sized head is selected and fitted to the threaded shaft. A “tommy bar” is used to turn the shaft through the anvil, contacting the end of the wrist pin and pushing it through the piston.
The wrist pin circlips must be removed prior to fitting the pin extractor tool to the piston. Can also be used to press the wrist pins into the pistons upon reassembly. The use of assembly lube aids in fitting the pins through the pistons and small ends of the connecting rods.
