This matched set of camshafts are direct replacements for the inlet and exhaust camshafts specified for the 1977-1982 750 models. Manufactured for LF Harris to original specifications and featuring a durable nitrided finish to minimize wear.
The 1977-later inlet camshaft profiles were specified in response to the EPA emissions regulations that impacted the tuning of the US-market Triumph 750 models. These camshafts are forged from a solid blank and are only compatible with the 1970-later B range models with the primary chaincase breather system. Can replace the 71-3011 inlet and 71-3010 exhaust camshafts used in the earlier TR7 and T140 models. These camshafts are recommended to be paired with 71-7008 standard 3/4 radius inlet and 70-8801 R-radius exhaust cam followers.
The camshaft is considered the “brain” of the internal combustion engine, as it synchronizes the valvetrain events that contribute to determining the character of the motor. The camshaft works in harmony with the cam followers, pushrods, rocker arms, valve springs and valves to produce the sequence of valvetrain function in the Triumph twin cylinder engines.
The crank cases must be split to access the camshafts in the unit- construction Triumph 650 and 750 engines. Once fitted, careful attention must be paid to cam timing to ensure a properly functioning engine. Refer to the factory workshop for camshaft installation and timing specifications. Special tools are required for removal and installation of the camshafts.
