The Lucas 147SA neutral indicator switch was specified for the Norton Commando MK3 models, along with the Triumph T160 and post-1978 Triumph T140 models with the centrally-located ignition switch and warning light console. This listing is for (1) switch.
This reproduction Lucas-type neutral indicator switch is supplied with the lock nut and is a replica of the 147SA short-plunger switch with spade terminals. The overall length from the plunger tip to the spade terminals is approximately 2″. Threads are 3/8″-24 TPI UNF. Made in the UK.
The switch works on an open-circuit resting position on the Norton Commando MK3 models, and on a closed-circuit resting position on the Triumph T140 and T160 models. The updated design allows for detachable spade connectors for ease of service.
The neutral indicator switch is threaded into the front end of the inner gearbox cover on the Triumph T140 models and is actuated by a plunger when neutral between low and second gear is selected. On the Norton Commando MK3 model, the switch is fitted in the gearbox shell beneath the rear cross-shaft.
