The Lucas 2MC capacitor was fitted from 1968 through 1975 on various British motorcycles as an adjunct charging system component, providing an energy source for powering the electrical system in the event of a flat battery. Some competitive riders and custom builders use the capacitor exclusively, in lieu of a battery.
The Lucas 2MC electrolytic capacitor is designed for positive ground 12 volt electrical systems. Quality European manufactured. 10,000 uF high output, 63V DC.
The capacitor can be used on its own, or as a battery “helper”. The capacitor stores the electrical charge from the stator to supply the coil(s) when the battery is discharged or omitted.
It is important that the capacitor is mounted with the terminals pointing downward. Generally, the 2MC capacitor is mounted on an anti-vibration spring in the vicinity of the battery carrier.
