While this hooked stud is correct for mounting the 71- 2851 engine sump guard on the 1971-1972 Triumph TR6C models, it can also be used on the earlier 1964-1970 models originally specified with the 82-5788 J-bolts.Â
The J-shaped hooked stud is designed to affix the front of the engine under shield, as fitted to the Triumph TR6C models. Zinc-plated and threaded to 1/4″-28 TPI UNF threads. Made in the UK.
The hooked studs and engine under shield are fitted to the TR6C models to protect the crankcase from contact with rocks and other potentially damaging obstructions.
The unthreaded hooked end of the stud wraps around the lower frame down tube, and the threaded stud end passes through the under shield on each side. A nut and washer are threaded on to each stud, drawing the under shield towards the frame tubes when tightened.
