The “shield” tail light side reflectors were specified for the US-market Triumph and BSA models from 1968-1970. This reflector set is comprised of the reflector and rubber backing mat, quantity (1) of each. Two reflectors are required for the tail lamp housing.
This triangle-shaped genuine Lucas reflector is a faithful reproduction of the original RER24 side reflector. The length of the reflector measures 2-7/8″ and it approximately 2-1/4″ tall. The rubber mounting backing mat is included with the reflector.
The red plastic reflector is backed with a steel plate with mounting pins, which are mounted to the tail lamp housing with starlock, or “push-fix” nuts. Generally, the tail lamp housing is removed from the rear mudguard to gain access to the interior of the housing.
The starlock washers are pressed onto the non-threaded mounting pins and retain the reflector when pushed all the way to their limit on the pins.
