This set of exhaust header pipes are correct for the 1973- 1979 Triumph 750 twin models with the exception of the 1979 T140D, which was specified with a different exhaust system.
Manufactured in the UK to exacting specifications by LF Harris, these exhaust headers are beautifully chrome plated. The OD measures 1-3/8″ on both ends of the pipes and they accept a 1-3/8″ crossover tube. They are of the “push-in” style of attachment to the cylinder head and require a balance tube. The balance tube is sold separately under part number 70-9888.
The exhaust pipes are joined at the outlet stubs with a balance tube, and are a push-in fit to the cylinder head at each exhaust port. Aluminum finned clips and lower stay brackets finish off the installation.
The balance tube helps retain the header pipes in the exhaust ports, in addition to the 70-6857 lower stay brackets fitted to the crankcase and joined at the mounting tabs on each exhaust pipe. It is advisable to use a bead of high-temperature RTV sealant at the junction of the header pipe and exhaust port to help prevent exhaust leaks when distortion to the port is present. Excess sealant can be wiped off and the finned clip will cover the junction at each exhaust port.
Please note: Due to varying bans on the use of hexavalent chrome in the chroming process, this item will have varying appearance different than OEM standards. Chromers are frequently using trivalent in their processes. “It’s just not the same color. Hexavalent has that clear blue sheen, but trivalent is more grayish and smoky. Trivalent will not replace the look of hexavalent.”
LF Harris motorcycle spares are produced to the highest quality standards possible utilizing original Triumph tooling, dies, factory blueprints & materials combined with modern manufacturing equipment, tolerances & techniques.
