Stator studs are are often bent or damaged from primary chain interface, resulting in poor stator alignment. Replace damaged studs to optimize the charging system.
New long-type stator stud is designed to factory specifications. (2) long studs are required to mount the stator. This stud has CEI threads (26tpi), as used on the 1963-68 models.
A properly aligned stator has an air gap of at least .008″ between the rotor and stator.
The stator must be removed prior to replacing the stud.
