Beautiful U.K made clutch basket. Not EMGO or Taiwanese. This one is as good as it gets!
The clutch chainwheel is the nexus between the engine sprocket and the transmission. It houses the clutch plates which engage to drive the power of the engine to the transmission, and when disengaged, allows the engine to run independently of the driveline. The condition of the clutch sprocket is critical to smooth clutch operation.
The 58 teeth Duplex sprocket houses the stack of friction driving clutch plates and plain steel driven plates. Roller bearings are assembled between the clutch hub and the hardened race of the clutch chainwheel. The hub is fitted to the tapered end of the transmission main shaft and supports the clutch center.
The clutch springs must be removed from the pressure plate and the center retaining nut must be removed, allowing the special puller tool used to break the clutch hub off its taper fit on the main shaft. The procedure is outlined in the workshop manual and should be closely followed.
