Triumph Rocker Box Valve Washer for 500 1971-1974 and 650 1971-1972, 71-2080 E12080
The copper crush washer is important to seal the oil in the rocker box after making tappet clearance adjustments. A total of four washers and plugs are used to gain access to each valve stem top using a feeler gauge.
The Triumph rocker box valve washer / copper crush washer is of a pleated design and is intended for a one-time use. It is recommended that the washer is replaced whenever the plug is removed from the rocker box. 5/8″ ID and 7/8″ OD.
The washer is fitted under the hex head of the inspection plug. Once the washer is crushed whilst tightening the plug, it is collapsed to form an oil-tight seal. It should be replaced after removing the plug for tappet clearance adjustment.
