The camplate has to be in good condition to ensure smooth operation of the transmission. If the camplate is warped, or the grooves are worn it will bind with the selector forks.
This new camplate fits all Triumph 350 and 500 unit twins from 1957-1974 and can be retrofitted to earlier models in most cases. It is a hardened steel plate that rotates on a spindle. There are grooves cut into the plate to guide the selector forks.
The camplate is driven by the gearchage quadrant, which is operated by the shift lever.
The gearbox covers must be removed to access the camplate. It is retained by a spindle in the inner gearbox cover.
Check your parts book to ensure the best fitment.
