Triumph Bonneville front fender 97-4270
As chrome-plating becomes more problematic in the production of mudguards, stainless steel offers an attractive and corrosion-resistant option to restorers. This front mudguard is a direct replacement for the original chromed fenders specified on early oil-in-frame and three-cylinder drum brake models.
This polished stainless steel mudguard from Speedwell is made in the UK with the original tooling. These fenders are handmade individually and require careful prep work. Stainless can be polished to a high luster if desired with the added benefit of corrosion resistance. They feature a lipped front edge while the 1971 version of the US-specification short front guard did not feature the additional vertical center stay, this reproduction fender is the updated version as introduced for the 1972 model year.
The front mudguard with the integrated mounting stays protects the rider and machine from the elements and serves as a brace for the fork under hard braking and cornering.
The fender stays are clamped to mounting brackets on the fork lowers with rubber bushings. Removal of the front wheel eases the installation of the mudguard.
