The hallmark of the Norton Commando frame is the unique principle of the Isolastic system, where the engine, gearbox, and swinging arm are assembled as one unit and rubber-mounted to the chassis. The original arrangement required shims to achieve the ideal side play of .006″- .010″ between the plastic washer and adjusting collar but was upgraded to a Vernier-adjustable system for the 1975 MK3 models. This kit is designed to retrofit the later-style Vernier-adjustable rear Isolastics to the 1968-1974 models and is a direct replacement kit for the 1975 models.

This genuine Andover replacement rear Isolastic kit is designed for direct fitment to all Commando 750 and 850 models. The kit is supplied with all of the necessary parts to renew the engine and gearbox mounting assembly, including the collar adjusting tool. Made in the UK.

The complete Isolastic assembly is designed to neutralize engine vibration transmitted through the frame, effectively isolating the rider from fatigue-inducing high frequency vibration. When the rear Isolastics become worn, the handling of the motorcycle becomes less predictable. The Vernier adjustable system adopted for the MK3 models eliminates the tedious task of shimming to achieve the correct clearance.

The adjustment of the installed Isolastic assembly is critical to enjoying the full benefit of the chassis design. The entire process of removal and installation of the rear Isolastic assembly is outlined in great detail in the factory workshop manual and should be carefully followed to ensure correct fitment.
