Properly sized throttle cables are essential for safe and correct adjustments to the throttle and carburetor. This throttle cable is used from the junction block to the carburetor and is suitable for the 1968-1972 Norton Commando with twin Amal 900 series Concentric carburetors. (2) lower cables are used in the original throttle cable assembly. This listing is for (1) cable.
This economically-priced quality cable from Emgo features a friction-reducing nylon sheath lining for easy operation and longevity. Overall length is approximately 15-1/4″, sheath length is 11-1/2″, with an inner wire free length of 3-1/2″.
The cable is pulled by the motion of the twist grip, allowing it to raise and lower the throttle slide in the carburetor. The top cable nipple is fitted to the internal sliding fitting of the junction block, which is controlled by the movement of the single upper cable from the twist-grip. Fine adjustments to cable lash are made by the inline adjuster on the upper cable and the threaded adjusters on the carburetor top caps.
The junction block must be opened to allow the lower cables to be positioned in the internal sliding fitting. The carburetor top cap then must be removed to thread the cable through the top cap. The return spring is installed over the cable, and the cable is captured in the throttle slide. The needle and clip are dropped in the slide bottom, with the return spring compressed so it is out of the way.Â
