This Genuine Lucas reproduction tail light assembly is a direct replacement for the 1973-1982 Triumph and Norton models fitted with the large square L917 tail light. The identifying embossed details are present on the lens, making this tail light suitable for restorations.
The assembly is comprised of the rubber gasket, bulb holder and base assembly, 12 volt bulb, and tail light lens. The lens features a clear panel on the bottom to allow for license plate illumination. Correct 4.7mm Lucas bullet connectors are fitted to the wires. Sourced from Wassell in the UK.
The 917 tail light assembly situates the bulb in a downward orientation for license plate illumination. If a modern LED replacement bulb is desired, a specially designed bulb for this tail light must be sourced to comply with the license plate illumination requirement.
The tail lamp assembly features long screws that extend through the tail lamp housing and are secured with special sleeve nuts that are recessed into the housing. The bullet connectors are plugged into the exisitng wiring harness with Lucas sleeve connectors.
