This master switch is a faithful reproduction of the original 149SA 4-position switch as specified for the 1971-1972 oil-in-frame Triumph and BSA 650 models, as well as the 1971-1975 Norton Commandos, 1975 Triumph T160 Trident and 1979-1983 Triumph T140 models. The ignition tumbler, complete with keys, is sold separately. Not intended for fitment to the 1971-1974 Triumph 500 or 1973-1978 Triumph 750 twins originally specified with a 2-position Lucas S45-type ignition switch.
The genuine Lucas 4-position switch is designed to work as the original equipment, where position 1 to the left switches on parking lights only, position 2 is the ‘off’ position, position 3 to the right is ignition only, and position 4 activates running lights in addition to the ignition.
When installing this switch into the correct application, there are no modifications necessary to the original wiring arrangement, and the terminals are numbered on the baseplate for easy identification. Can be used with both 169SA and 187SA Lucas-type handlebar switch consoles.
