The Girling name is a legacy brand that dates back to the 1920s and has long been known for innovation and quality brake parts. A completely new lineup of motorcycle brake components are now available replicating the original equipment as specified for BSA, Norton, and Triumph motorcycles.
This brake shoe set is compatible with the SLS 7″ single-sided BSA front hub as fitted to many models from 1949 through the late 1950s. The famous BSA QD rear hub also used this ubiquitous set of brake shoes through 1970, as fitted to many single cylinder and twin cylinder models. Top quality and fitment from Girling.
The brake shoe linings must be adequately thick to provide the correct position of the operating arm on the brake plate. If the brake shoe linings are worn thin, damage to the machined brake drum surface can occur and the front brake cable or brake rod can no longer be adjusted to maximize stopping power.
The brake shoes are fitted to the brake plate as a matching shoe set and are retained to the plate with a return spring at the end of each brake shoe. They pivot on a fixed pin opposite of the actuating cam, which is operated by the brake arm lever on the outside of the brake plate.
