This silencer features an extended inlet tube allowing fitment to the oil in frame BSA and Triumph 650 and 750 twin-cylinder models from 1971 onward. The extended inlet length allows the kickstart lever to clear the bulge in the resonator section of the silencer on the right side. A reducer, clamp, and mounting bracket is included with the silencer. Not compatible with T140D models.
Sourced from Wassell in the UK, this silencer is patterned after the earlier “Burgess”-type mufflers used on pre-unit and unit-construction Triumph 650 models and offers a vintage look and sound for the oil-in-frame models from the 1970s. Inlet diameter is 1-1/2″ ID, and the included reducer will shim down the inlet tube to 1-3/8″ ID for fitment to stock Triumph TR7 and T140 exhaust pipes. The 1971-1972 BSA and Triumph models do not require the reducer.
This silencer may also be considered a “universal fit”, as it is likely compatible with some single-cylinder road models from BSA, such as C10, C11, C12, B40, and B44SS models with 1-3/8″ and 1-1/2″ OD exhaust pipes.
The included universal mounting bracket has multiple drillings to allow precise fitment of the silencer to the footrest mounting plate or frame lug. It is advisable to loosely fit the exhaust system together to confirm proper orientation of the silencer prior to tightening all of the fasteners. Carburetor tuning may be required after changing exhaust system components.
