The updated design of the 1969 twin-leading shoe brake plate allowed for improved brake cable routing and was used on the full-width cast-iron 8″ front brake drum specified for the 1969-1970 BSA and Triumph 650 twins and 750 triples, as well as the 1969-1974 Triumph T100R models. Can be fitted to some earlier front brake drums when the appropriate cable is used.
This reproduction cast aluminum brake plate assembly is supplied with stainless steel fittings and hardware. Brake shoes and springs are also fitted. The outside diameter measures 9″ across the plate and is suitable for fitment to the 8″ full-width hub/ brake drum, as specified from 1966-1974.
The twin-leading shoe design optimizes brake shoe contact with the brake drum surface. This design features a vertical cable anchor cast into the plate, which allows for even actuation of both brake cam levers joined by an adjustable linkage rod. The bright stainless steel hardware is corrosion resistant and an aesthetic upgrade.
The anchor plate nut must be removed to gain access to the brake plate for removal. An appropriately-sized deep socket is used to loosen the nut while the spindle is kept stationary. Refer to the factory workshop manual for fitment and adjustment procedures.
