This design of fork oil seals was fitted to the Triumph 350, 500, and 650 twin-cylinder model external-spring forks from 1964 through 1970, as well as the 1969-1970 T150 triples. Although the part number for the 1971-1974 Triumph 500 models varied, these fork seals are suitable fitment for the late T100 models as well. BSA twins and triples, including A50, A65 and A75 models were also fitted with these seals under a separate part number for the 1969-1970 model years.
The steel-bound rubber oil seals measure approximately 1-5/16″ ID with an OD of 1-7/8″ and feature an internal spring to ensure proper oil retention in the fork lower member assembly. Sourced from the UK.
The oil seals are an interference fit into the fork seal holders and must be pressed or driven into place to seat against an internal abutment. It is important that the finish on the fork stanchion tubes is free of pitting and corrosion to prevent premature wear of the oil seals.
Once the fork lowers are removed from the stanchion tubes, the old seals can be extracted and replaced in the fork seal holders. Refer to the factory workshop manual for complete fork service procedures. Replaces OEM part numbers 97-1500, H1500, 75-5099.
