This Burgess-type silencer can be used on pre-unit Triumph 650 models fitted with 1-3/4″ OD exhaust pipes, although it does not have the integrated mounting stay, and would require a separate mounting bracket.
This reproduction silencer measures 23-1/2″ long and has an inlet ID of 1-3/4″ and inlet OD of 1-7/8″. A 1-7/8″ mounting clamp is required to secure the silencer to the exhaust pipe. The mounting bracket bosses are threaded to accept 5/16-24 TPI UNF bolts.
This silencer produces a throaty sound and is nicely finished in chrome. Although intended for fitment to the 1960-1962 Triumph 6T, TR6 and T120 models, this silencer can be fitted to the 1963-1970 unit-construction models with 1-3/4″ OD downswept exhaust pipes.
The inlet of the silencer fits over the end of the exhaust pipe and is secured with a clamp. There are threaded bosses on the backside of the silencer for the bolts that retain the mounting bracket. It is advisable to loosen the exhaust system while fitting the silencer to allow for adjustments to the alignment prior to tightening down the hardware.Â
