The kickstarter pawl is important to the function of the kickstart mechanism. They are often worn and can contribute to poor engagement of the kickstart spindle with the low gear in the transmission.
This is a new kickstarter pawl and fits Triumph 350 and 500 unit twins (Daytona, T100R, T100C, Tiger, T90, 3TA, etc) from 1957-1974.
The pawl hinges on the radiused end of the kickstart spindle and engages with the notches inside the low gear. The pawl is held in place with a small spring and acts as a ratchet mechanism.
While it turns the transmission layshaft when the kickstart lever is pushed down, it then lays down when the lever reaches its limit to return the kickstart lever to its original position.
It is held in place with a small spring and plunger in the inner end of the kickstart spindle, fitting into the recess of the low gear.Â
Pawl is sold individually.
