This conversion kit allows the original loose bearings, cups, and cones to be upgraded to Timken-style tapered bearings for superior durability and easier adjustment. Suitable for fitment to Triumph 500 twins 1967-1974 and 650 twins 1960-1970. Not compatible with TR5T models.
The 4-piece kit includes both upper and lower bearings and tapered races. The top bearing is supplied with the integrated dust cover. Timken-type tapered bearing cones measure approximately 1″ID. The bearing cup has an ID 1″ and an OD 2.1″.
Steering head bearings play a critical role in providing smooth handling and safe operation of the motorcycle. Tapered steering bearings are a logical and economical upgrade when servicing vintage forks on your Triumph twin.
The fork assembly must be removed from the frame to perform the steering head bearing conversion. Refer to the factory workshop manual for details on fork and frame service.
