The dual seat is a prominent part of the restored motorcycle, and the seat cover should be finished in the correct pattern and color. This black cover is correct for the MK2, MK2A, and MK3 Norton Commando Roadster models from 1973-1975.
The correct square top, or “Checkerboard” pattern and gold Norton logo identify this seat cover as an authentic reproduction for the later 850 Roadster models. Made in the UK.
For correct fitment of the cover to the seat pan and foam, the metal base must be free of damage and rust. The foam can be reused if still soft, compressible, and retaining its original shape. Replacement seat foams are available and often used when the seat cover in installed.
The seat cover is stretched over the foam padding and seat pan, then retained by sprags, seat pan tabs, or adhesive. A separate trim strip around the base of the seat pan finishes the seat cover installation. Seat recovering requires skills that may be best reserved for a professional upholsterer.
